Kalachane ki vada and puffs


INGREDIENTS:
Kalechane........2 cps
Onion....1
Green chilly...4
salt..as required
Red chilly powder
Cumin-Coriander powder.... 1tsp
Coriander leaves......1 cup(chopped)
Curry leaves.....2 tbsp(chopped)
Gram flour.....2tbsp(for binding)
Water.......small cup
Oil...for frying

METHOD:

  • soak the kale chane for 12 hours.
  • Grind them with little amount of water.
  • Add chopped onion and all other ingredients.
  • Make small rounds and flatten them.
  • Fry them in the hot oil.
Serve them hot with coffee or tea or along with some tomato sauce.

Potato......1
Beetroot.....1/2
Carrot....2
Cabbage.....1/4th
Onion.....1
Salt
Red chilly powder
cumin-coriander powder....1 tsp
Ginger-Garlic paste...1 tsp
Pastry sheets.....2

METHOD:
  • Chop the veggies.Keep aside.
  • In a pan heat 2 tbsp of oil.Add chopped onion.When it is half fried add ginger garlic paste.
  • Add the veggies.Cover and cook until they well cooked stirring in between and adding salt and all the other ingredients except pastry sheets.Remove from heat once it is done.
  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Take out the pastry sheets from the freezer before 1 hour.
  • Cut the sheets into rectangles.
  • Put 1tbsp of the veggie mixture inside rectangle and fold it .Brush the edges with some water.Then the binding will be good.Brush the puffs with some milk/eggwhite.
  • Keep them on an ungreased cookie sheet and place them in the oven for 20 minutes or until they done.
Serve hot .

Swapna...I liked Ur Chana ka vada recipe....have heard of it before but never made it :-)
Now that I have the recipe,will surely make them :-)

I make the same with channa dal, this is a great variation.
Puff were my favorite growing up in India always had them with with pepsi or thumps up

vadas and puffs are my favorite snacks. I always made potato filling for the puffs.

kalachane vada....very intresting and new to me. Initially I thought it was channa dal vadas. That puffs looks mouthwatering. Usually I make a potato filling. will try your version next time.
