Gummadi kaya(sweet pumpkin)koora





INGREDIENTS:
Gummadikaya ........medium size piece
Salt............................as required
Ginger....................... medium root
Mustard seeds.........1 tsp
Chana dal.....................1 tbsp
Urad dal..........................1 tbsp
Red chilly......................4-5
Cumin seeds.................1 tsp
Curry leaves..............1 stalk


METHOD:

  • Cut the pumpkin into medium sized pieces.

  • Heat a wide pan .Add 2 tbsp of oil .
  • Add the mustard seeds.When they splutter add chana dal,urad dal ,cumin seeds,red chilly and curry leaves.
  • When they done add the chopped ginger.Fry till the ginger is well fried.
  • Add the sweet pumpkin pieces.Add salt.Cover and cook until they done.
  • Add water if needed.


TIP: U can add chopped onion also.And at the last 1 tsp of sugar.It will give a good taste for this curry..

GENERAL SAFETY :Using this in a high quantity may cause Vaatam(leg pains).Don't take this at late nights.It won't easily digest to some people.So be careful with this.

My mom makes upma koora she add's onions also. she even makes ulli karam with gummadikaya.
