FIRST POEM

Hai everybody

Here i want to share one poem told by my kid(my sister's kid).He is 6 yers old and he is staying at my native place in India.When we called them home my MIL told about this.For all of us he is like a small kid only.And when he told it we are all stunned about his enthusiasm to learn and laughed at his poem......................:-).

I want to share with all of u..........my friends ...................

One night chinna (nick name for him)sat on the terras with his granny.Their conversation went like this

chinna: grand ma
My mil:yes
chinna:i want to tell a poem
MIL: tell me
chinna: SKY IS BLUE
STARS ARE TWINKLING
SUN GO AWAY
MOON COMING OUT.......................
HOW IS THAT?

My mil laughed so much..........and she told us when we called.Then chinna also told this.

BOTTLE GAURD WITH MOONG DAL


This is my mother's recipe and one of my favourates also. I have done some moderations to it and preparing it.

So here is the recipe........................

BOTTLE-GAURD(LOKHI,SORAKAYA).............1 medium sized

MOONG DAL...............................................................1cup

TAMARIND PASTE................................................1 tsp

SALT TO TATSE

RED CHILLY POWDER.........................................as much spicy as u want


FOR TAMPERING:
GRAM DAL.......................1tsp
URAD DAL.........................1tsp
GARLIC...............................4 flakes
RED CHILLYS.....................2-3
GREEN CHILLY.................4
GINGER..............................small piece
MUSTARD.............................1/2tsp
JEERA.....................................1/2 tsp
CURRY LEAVES
ASEFITODA(HING).............1 pinch


METHOD OF PREPARATION:

Cut lokhi to small pieces.Boil those pieces and moong dal adding enough of water.Heat oil in a pan add garlic first.When the garlic turns to reddish brown add all other ingredients for tampering.Afteer that add the boiled moong dal and lokhi pieces.Add salt and red chilly powder.cover with the lid and keep it for 5 min.After that add tamarind paste and cover it and cook it for 5 min.take it from the stove and garnish with coriander.

Srve hot with chapathi.It will be so delicious............................

PALAK PARATHA



Normally my daughter likes to eat if the food i am giving to her looks different from day to day.I want to feed her leafy vegetables.One day i have to do something with spinach.Then i asked one of my friend,vinaya, about the recipes with spinach.She suggested me this palak chapathi and gave some links.Thanks to her for that.I have seen those links and i have tried my version.It came out very well.So my recipe follows like this..................
PALAK...........1bunch
CORIANDER LEAVES..........1/4th bunch
GINGER-GARLIC PASTE......1tsp
JEERA......................................1/2tsp
AJWAIN...................................1/2 tsp
GREEN CHIILIES...................4-5(as much as spicy u want)
SALT.............................................to taste
ATTA.................for the dough
GHEE...............for rolling chapathis








Boil the palak in hot boiling water for 3-4 min.Remove it from the stove and keep the palak in cold running water.When once the palak is cooled grind it with the remaining ingredients except atta to a fine paste.After that add atta to it and make a soft dough.Take a small ball sized dough and roll it out.Apply ghee on it close it and again roll it out.Fry on a pan .If u want apply ghee or oil.Serve hot with curd or any pickle.

TINDORA MASALA CURRY


I learned this recipe from my mother-in-law.She is a very good cook.In her 60's also she likes to cook and serve her children and she likes to feed her grand children.


TINDORA..........20
TAMARIND PASTE......1 tbsp
SUGAR ..........................1/2tsp

FOR MASALA:


ONION...........1(big size)
GINGER.........2-3 small pieces
GARLIC..........2-3flakes
CORIANDER SEEDS.....1tsp
JEERA.............................1tsp
CINNAMON...................1
ELACHI..........................2
CLOVES............................2
CASHEW........................4


Grind the above ingredients to a fine paste.


Make slits on bothsides of the tindora.Boil them for about 20 min.so that they are half boiled.Heat oil in a pan add the masala paste.Fry it till the masala gives some nice smell and add the boiled tindora.Add salt to taste and chilly powder.Cover with the lid.When the tindaora is all well boiled add the tamarind paste and boil with it for 5 min.Before taking from the stove add sugar.Nice tindora curry is ready.SErve hot with white rice.

VANGI BATH



As i already told i like brinjals very much.On sundays i don't want to spend more time in the kitchen.I like to prefer the recipes that will take less time.So that i can spend time with my hubby.So the recipe follows like this............................

BRINJALS....................5-6(medium sized)

MIXED VEGGIES.......like carrot,beans,peas etc.(optional)

ONION.........................1 big size

GINGER GARLIC PASTE.......1tsp

SALT TO TASTE

FOR POWDER:

coriander seeds ..........2tbsp
blackgram dal .............3tbsp
chilli .............................8
cumin .........................1tbsp
fenugreek seeds ........1/2tbsp
cinnamon ...................2 big pieces
cloves ...........................6

Fry all the ingredients above in 2 tsp oil and grind them to a fine powder.U can keep the powder for a long time also.

Heat oil in a pan .Add cashews and after that add onion.Fry them till reddish brown.After that add ginger garlic paste.Add brinjal pieces and the veggies .Fry them for 2-3 min.Add cleaned rice .Add salt and the and 2 .tsp of grounded powder.Add water and cover with lid.Once the rice cooked well add tamarind paste and cook with it for 5-6 min.Add sugar and take away from the stove.

Serve hot with pineapple raitha.

RAVVA LADDOO



I like ravva ladoo very much.But i don't know how to prepare it.Once i have tried and learnt how to do.From then if my husband wants any sweet i will do this sweet because it is very easy to make and we love to eat .So have a look on this recipe...............................

FINE SUJI..........1 cup

CASTER SUGAR....1cup

GHEE........................1/4th cup

CASHEW.................as much as u want

RAISINS.................as much as u want

MILK........................to make rounds.


I n a pan heat ghee .Fry cashew pieces and raisins and keep aside.In the remaining ghee fry suji till crispy.Add the fried suji to the cashew and raisins.Add caster sugar(u can use powdered sugar)to it and mix well.Add milk to make rounds.make the rounds when it is hot only.have a nice day...and enjoy...................................


BRINJAL and INDIAN BEANS(VAL PAPDI)CURRY



Usually everybody likes brinjals (i think).Me and my husband likes it very much.One sunday i have tried this recipe and it come out very well.Down is the recipe....................


BRINJALS CUT INTO MEDIUM PIECES


INDIAN BEANS CUT INTO PIECES

ONION SMALL PIECES

GREEN CHILLIES

GINGER

TOMATOES CUT INTO SMALL PIECES

SALT TO TASTE

TO SAUTE...............

First in a pan heat 2 tbsp of oil.Saute curry leaves,mustard and jeera.Add green chillies and ginger pieces.Fry them for 2-3 sec. and add onion pieces.Fry them till reddish brown then add brinjal pieces and beans.Put the lid over the pan and keep like it for 5 min.After that add tomatoes.Add salt to taste and red chilly powder.Cover it with the lid and cook till the veggies all cooked well.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or chapathi.

Micro Cake



When i was in LONDON we used to have potlucks(get-together).Once i have to make some desert. I am confused.At that time my oven isn't in a working condition.Then i have tried this microwave cake recipe and that was the first cake made by me.It was came very nice also.So here is the recipe..........

SELF RAISING FLOUR-------120gm

BUTTER/MARGARINE------120gm

SUGAR----------------------------180 gm

VANILLA ESSENCE---------1 tsp

BAKING POWDER-----------1tsp

EGGS-----------------------------2



FOR ICING:

ICING SUGAR----------------200gm

BUTTER(melted)------------100gm

Mix flour ,powdered sugar and baking powder.To that mixture add butter .Mix it well.Then add vanilla essence and eggs.Grease one microwavable pot with butter or put a greaseproof paper in it.Pour the mixture in it and put it in the microwave high for 7to 8 min.

For icing mix the icing sugar and melted butter well.(u can use 1tsp of warm water to mix)to a smooth paste.Apply on the cake.

Nice microwave cake is ready...enjoy.
